Thank God for NYC Restaurant Week! Because of this semi-annual event, people like me can go to restaurants like this without making too big of a dent in my pocket! For $35, my friends and I were able to enjoy a four-course dinner in a gorgeous Japanese restaurant downtown. Our first course was this amazing handmade tofu – my favorite dish of the night. Silky smooth and creamy, I would have been perfectly happy eating five bowls of it for dinner.

The second dish is called O-Banzai and consisted of two Kyoto-style appetizers. We had a chilled tomato dish and a small plate of mushrooms. My entree – a delicately grilled black cod marinated in saikyo miso. To finish off the meal, we had a small scoop of seasonal ice cream. I think ours was apricot, but my memory is cloudy at the moment… I just remember that the texture was a little too dense for my liking.

The conclusion? Definitely worth a visit just for the tofu, which is the best I’ve had in the States.
