CC - Thank you for your delicious comment! I am now convinced my visit was not complete without a bite of their savory sandwiches and I will be sure to go back before I return to the East Coast!

As a visitor to S.F. I waited in line 20 minutes in the pouring rain for a chance to enjoy an SRO breakfast at Tartine. What an experience. Everything on the menu appeared to promise a phenomenal treat to the taste buds. When at last I made it to the counter the visual temptation was even greater. I finally settled on quiche of the day and a pressed sandwich with pecorino cheese & toasted chunky almonds crushed with olive oil, lemon and sage (shared between two giddy friends!). The huge and steamy cup of cafe au lait added to delight and all made for a breakfast to remember.
