The bakery is owned by Mutsumi Takehara, yet another Chez Panisse alumna, and she adds a nice Japanese twist to many of the items. One of my favorites was the banana and chocolate heart, which is similar to the traditional red bean-filled buns found in many Asian bakeries, but instead of beans, the filling was a moist mix of real bananas and rich chocolate.
This cute bakery is definitely worth a visit – bring some friends so you can try more of the delectable offerings!
