I’m not usually a fan of cannolis because they are really dense and sweet, but the cannolis from Mike’s Pastry have won me over. The ricotta filling is freshly made and has a fluffier, lighter texture. It also doesn’t seem as sweet to me as the ones I’ve had in New York City. Plus, this particular one is made with a florentine cookie as the shell instead of the normal deep-fried cannoli shells, which may seem “healthier” but surely is not. In any case, it contributes to a really nice mixture of textures. If you’re a traditionalist, no worries – you can find the usual suspects here as well – chocolate dipped, chocolate chips, pistachios, almonds, custard fillings, chocolate mousse fillings, hazelnuts – and dozens of other pastries as well!
